Due to health and safety issues along with building heavy weather in the mid Pacific we chose to return to port after setting sail on our journey. The best season to sail to French Polynesia from Hawaii is the beginning of April and we had some major setbacks that pushed our departure date back by almost 3 months (rebuilding the Watermaker, generator etc). That coupled with this being the first shift back to an El Niño year it just made sense. The weather patterns have been producing extra strong winds and swell coming from a much more easterly direction than normal (bad for the way we wanted to go). We have decided to instead sail Inter Island in the Hawaiian islands with friends and family and re-attempt our passage to French Polynesia the following season. Feel free to follow us along this new adventure to all of the Hawaiian islands and the great cruising spots they have to offer. Aloha!
